About the player
Layton Rhys Stewart came through Liverpool's academy, scoring 43 goals in 59 games at underage level, including hat-tricks against Manchester City and Blackburn. He signed his first professional contract there in February 2020 and made his senior debut in an EFL Cup tie against Derby County in November 2022; after a lengthy layoff he returned to score for Liverpool's under-23 side.
He left Liverpool for Preston North End, making sixteen appearances in the 2023–24 season without a goal. A loan move to FC Thun in January 2025 followed. He scored four goals in fifteen league appearances as Thun won the Swiss Challenge League title, with his strike in a 2–1 win over Aarau securing promotion to the Super League. Thun made the move permanent that summer.
He has since spent time on loan at AFC Wimbledon in League One, where he made five appearances. Stewart has also represented England at under-18 level.
