About the player
Born in Mérida, the left-footed defender started out in the youth ranks of UCV FC, playing in Venezuela's Segunda División before earning his professional debut with Zulia FC in 2021. Two years there gave way to a move to Angostura FC in 2023, where he stayed until early 2025.
His time at the club has not been without controversy: in November 2023, Maldonado was among four Estudiantes de Mérida players detained on suspicion of sexual abuse.
At 185cm, Maldonado offers physical presence at the back, and his left foot has been a consistent feature of his profile across his various clubs. He has not been capped by the Venezuela national side at senior level.
