Nathan Fernandes

Nathan Fernandes came through Grêmio's academy, joining as a nine-year-old in 2016 and signing his first youth contract in March 2019. He made his professional debut for the senior side in May 2023, scoring three goals in 39 appearances. The clearest marker of his rise came that April, when he scored in the Copa Libertadores at 19 years and 67 days old, becoming the third-youngest player to find the net for Grêmio in the competition, a list headed by Ronaldinho Gaúcho and Lincoln.

Fernandes represented Brazil at Under-16 and Under-20 level, and he was part of the squad that won the 2025 South American Under-20 Championship in Venezuela, although a thigh injury picked up early in the tournament, in the match against Colombia, disrupted his involvement.

Botafogo announced his signing from Grêmio on 14 February 2025, taking on 100% of his economic rights and tying him to a contract running until the end of 2029. He is often used as a winger or second striker, and his time at Grêmio has already left him with a piece of club history to his name at the Libertadores.
