About the player
After coming up through the LB07 youth system in Malmö and making his senior debut there in 2014, he spent 2019 to 2021 at Clemson University, turning out for LB07 in the summers while playing college soccer in the United States. He was named Second-team All-ACC in 2020 and First-team All-ACC in 2021, reached the final shortlist for the Hermann Trophy, was named the ACC's Men's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year, and helped Clemson win the NCAA Division I national championship.
He returned to Sweden in February 2024 on a free transfer to IK Brage, making 29 appearances in the Superettan.
Ågren joined GAIS in 2025 and was part of the side that finished third in Allsvenskan, taking the "Little Silver" medal and qualifying for the UEFA Conference League. On 10 May 2025 he scored his first goal in the Swedish top flight, against IFK Värnamo.
