Patrick Pentz

Patrick Pentz joined Austria Wien in 2013, where he spent four seasons with the reserve side in the Regionalliga before making his first-team debut in the Austrian Bundesliga in May 2016. He did not become the club's regular starter until the 2017–18 season, after which he went on to win the league's Best Goalkeeper award in two consecutive seasons, 2020–21 and 2021–22.

Pentz left Austria Wien as a free agent in 2022 for Stade de Reims, where he lost his starting place to Yehvann Diouf. A free transfer to Bayer 04 Leverkusen followed in January 2023, though he never made a first-team appearance there. His path changed in August 2023 with a season-long loan to Brøndby IF, made permanent the following June on a four-year contract; he wears the number 1 shirt for the Danish club.

A Brøndby away win at FC Copenhagen in April 2025 turned into controversy when Pentz was shown a second yellow card for unsporting behaviour amid the post-match celebrations. Copenhagen's captain, Thomas Delaney, said Pentz had shown a "lack of respect," and Pentz later apologised.

On the international stage, Pentz made his senior debut for Austria in March 2022 against Scotland and was first-choice goalkeeper at UEFA Euro 2024, starting all four of Austria's matches there, including wins over Poland and the Netherlands before a Round of 16 exit. He has since been named in Austria's squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
