About the player
Reon Yamahara came through the youth system at Kyoto Shiko Soccer Club before moving to JFA Academy Fukushima, where he spent both his junior high and high school years, graduating in 2017. University football at Tsukuba followed, and it was there that he made his name: he was named MVP of the 2021 Denso Cup and picked for the Best Eleven in the Kanto University Soccer League. Shimizu S-Pulse signed him as a special designated player before his graduation and formalised the deal on a free transfer in February 2022.
His time at Shimizu included the 2024 J2 League title, and Yamahara was named to that season's J2 League Best XI. He was also part of a Shimizu side that scored in thirteen consecutive J2 home matches, a club record. Those performances led to his move to Kawasaki Frontale, completed in December 2025 and taking effect in January 2026.
At international level, Yamahara has represented Japan at various youth stages, including the U-16 side in 2014, and earned a cap for the U-23 team in 2022 as part of the squad for the Tokyo Olympics.
