About the player
Roman Zashchepkin came through the FC Krasnodar academy, where his youth career brought silverware: a Youth Football League championship in 2022/23, a silver medal in the YFL-1 in 2020/21 and bronze in the YFL a year earlier. He made his senior debut for Krasnodar's main team in the First League on 12 March 2022, coming on as a substitute against Fakel Voronezh, having already established himself with the reserve side, Krasnodar-2, in the Second League and then the First League.
In August 2023 Zashchepkin moved on as a free agent, joining FC KAMAZ on a contract running to June 2027. The switch gave him a route to regular first-team football that had been harder to find at Krasnodar, and he took it: in his first season at KAMAZ he made 21 appearances in the First League, scoring twice and adding an assist. He followed that with 23 appearances the next season, then 30 league games plus two Russian Cup outings in 2025/26, though he did not find the net that season. He has started all ten of KAMAZ's matches so far in the current campaign.
At Krasnodar he was used across the club's youth and reserve setup, contributing five goals and three assists in total during his time there. He plays as a right-footed midfielder.
