About the player
Rony Jansson came through the Grankulla IFK academy before moving to HJK Helsingfors, where he made three appearances for the reserve side, Klubi 04, in the Ykkönen in 2021.
The 2024 season brought individual recognition: Jansson was nominated for both Allsvenskan's Young Player of the Year and Defender of the Year awards, though he won neither, with the Young Player prize going to Samuel Dahl.
Having represented Finland at various youth levels, including the U21 European Championship in 2025, he made his debut for Finland in a friendly against Hungary on 5 June 2026, a match Finland lost 2–1. He started the game wearing the number 13 shirt and was substituted off in the 81st minute.
On 31 July 2026, he transferred to German club FC St. Pauli in the 2. Bundesliga, with both clubs keeping the fee confidential, though outside estimates placed it at around €0.4 million.
