Samuel Salter

Samuel Salter has spent 2026 rewriting what a Canadian forward can do in Swedish football, arriving at GAIS off the back of a season that made him the standout attacking player in the Canadian Premier League. In 2025 with Atlético Ottawa he set the CPL's single-season goal record with 19 goals, breaking the previous mark of 14, and on 10 May scored four times in a 5-2 win over Valour FC.

He came through spells with CS St-Hubert and then AS Blainville, where he won the PLSQ title and finished as the league's top scorer, including two hat-tricks, before HFX Wanderers brought him into the CPL in 2021. He topped the Wanderers' scoring charts with 11 goals in 2022, a return that set up his move to Atlético Ottawa the following February — a transfer notable in itself as the first intra-league CPL deal to involve a fee, with HFX also keeping a share of any future sale.

At GAIS, signed on a contract running to the end of 2029, Salter has continued his scoring form: six goals and two assists from 15 Allsvenskan starts in 2026, with a brace against Halmstads BK and a goal in a 4-0 win over Brommapojkarna among the highlights. He also featured in GAIS's Conference League qualifying tie against FC Nordsjælland, won 1-0 at home before a 6-0 defeat away ended the run. He has yet to add a senior cap for Canada, though his name has been mentioned in connection with the squad building towards the 2026 World Cup.
