Tibe De Vlieger came through Gent's own academy, joining the club at under-10 level back in 2014. That long apprenticeship paid off in stages: a first professional contract in December 2021, extended in February 2023, then extended again in February 2024, this time through to 2030 — a sign of how highly the club rates him.

The path to the first team ran through Jong KAA Gent, the reserve side, where De Vlieger became a regular scoring midfielder rather than a bit-part player. Across 53 appearances he scored 17 goals, and in the 2023–24 season alone he struck nine times in 18 league matches in the Eerste Nationale. He was a key contributor when Jong KAA Gent won the 2024–25 Eerste Nationale title, securing promotion to the Challenger Pro League.

His senior debut for Gent came on 16 January 2024, in a Belgian Cup quarter-final against Club Brugge, a game the team lost 1–0. Since then he has become a fixture in the first-team picture, passing 35 appearances in the Belgian Pro League. At international level, De Vlieger has represented Belgium at youth level, picking up three caps for the under-19s, though a senior call-up has not yet followed.
