Weah announced himself at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, scoring a hat-trick against Paraguay to become the first American men's player to score three goals in a World Cup knockout match. He had joined the Paris Saint-Germain academy three years earlier and worked his way up to the senior squad, a path that also ran through a brief loan at Celtic, where he won the Scottish Premiership before he had even turned twenty. A permanent move to Lille followed. He was part of the Lille side that won the Ligue 1 title. That form carried him to Juventus, where he added a Coppa Italia to his collection. In 2025 he moved on loan to Marseille, with an obligation to buy built into the deal that turned the move permanent. Weah has also become a fixture for the United States national team, earning over fifty caps and contributing seven goals, and he was part of the American squad that lifted the CONCACAF Nations League on three separate occasions.
