He signed a four-year contract, a statement of intent from both sides about how long this is meant to last.
Lawal came through LASK's system, spending time out on loan at FC Wels before working his way into the first team and making his Bundesliga debut in October 2020.
His first season in the Belgian Pro League has been a heavy one: 18 league appearances and eight more in the UEFA Europa League. That trust has come alongside physical setbacks — knee injuries in September and again in March disrupted the campaign at two separate points.
On the international stage, Lawal made his senior debut for Austria in June 2025, coming off the bench in a 4–0 World Cup qualifying win over San Marino. He had missed out on a place in the squad for Euro 2024.
