Viljami Sinisalo

Viljami Sinisalo took the number 1 shirt at Celtic for the 2026–27 season, inheriting it after Kasper Schmeichel's retirement. Sinisalo joined Aston Villa's academy from FC Espoo on a free transfer. At Ayr United he made 22 league appearances before a groin injury cut the spell short, and a loan at Burton Albion was also ended early after eight appearances. He then moved to Exeter City, where he made 50 appearances, kept 14 clean sheets, and won both the Players' Player and Supporters' Player of the Season awards.

Celtic signed him in 2024 for a fee reported at around £1 million. He had to wait for his competitive debut, which came in February 2025 in a Scottish Cup tie against Raith Rovers, a 5–0 win in which he kept a clean sheet. His league debut followed in March 2025 against Hearts, another clean sheet in a 3–0 victory. Since then he has been part of Celtic squads that won the Scottish Premiership in 2024–25 and 2025–26, the Scottish League Cup in 2024–25, and the Scottish Cup in 2025–26.

He made his senior debut for Finland in January 2023 in a friendly against Estonia that Finland lost 1–0, and he had earned seven caps by the following March. He was named Finland's U21 Player of the Year in 2022.

One incident from his time at Celtic drew attention beyond the pitch: in June 2025, a Rangers supporter was sentenced to eight months in prison and banned from matches for over six years after throwing a bottle at Sinisalo during a game.
