Bayer Leverkusen U19

The Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion holds 3,200; around Leverkusen it goes by the Kleines Haberland, the Little Haberland. The U19s have played there since the youth set-up was gathered into one place — the Kurtekotten youth football centre — in 2000, the year after the club was reorganised as a limited company. The academy carries a three-star rating with the German Football Association's excellence mark.

Between 2013 and 2015 the team won the German U19 championship three seasons running, beating Hansa Rostock in the first of those finals. They reached a fourth in 2016 and lost it to Borussia Dortmund. The one cup came earlier: the German U19 Cup in 2008, 3–0 against Borussia Mönchengladbach, five years after the 2003 final had gone 1–4 to 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

Benjamin Henrichs arrived at seven, captained the U19s and made his first-team debut in 2015; Monaco took him three years later. Kai Havertz came into the youth system in 2010 and left for Chelsea in 2020 for around €73m. Florian Wirtz joined in 2020, debuted the same year and went to Liverpool in 2025 for roughly €118m.

Sergi Runge moved up from the U17s in June 2024 to take the side.

Against 1. FC Köln the fixture is the Rhine Derby at every age group, and the history between them adds an edge the league table does not.

All of it descends from a works club: the parent side was founded on 1 July 1904 for employees of the Bayer chemical firm, with a football department added on 31 May 1907. The nickname has never moved on — Die Werkself, the factory eleven.
