CD Guadalajara

Five thousand seats ring the Estadio Hugo Palenque Sánchez in Challapata, a ground built for a fixture list that rarely travels far beyond the Oruro Department. Guadalajara plays there because it belongs there: the club represents Qaqachaca, the indigenous district within Challapata's Abaroa province, and carries that link in its fuller name, CD Guadalajara Qaqachaca.

The badge borrows more than a name from Mexico. Locals know the side as "el equipo tricolor," a three-colour kit that echoes Chivas de Guadalajara without anyone in Challapata claiming the connection outright. A rival nickname, "Los Chivatos," gets attached to Guadalajara from time to time, but it belongs properly to CD Ingenieros across town in Oruro; Guadalajara itself has never settled on one of its own.

Its standing in the province rests on the last two seasons. Guadalajara won the Oruro Provincial League in 2025 and used the title to reach the Fase Nacional of the Copa Simón Bolívar, Bolivia's second tier, where it took on Real Potosí. It defended the provincial crown in 2026, beating 22 de Octubre 2-1 in the final to go back-to-back, a run that has made it the club to catch in Abaroa province.

Locally, the derby that matters is against Municipal Challapata, the municipality's other club and the one Guadalajara meets with the sharpest edge; neither side has given the fixture a name, but neither needs one for it to be felt around the ground. Games against Municipal draw the town in a way the trips to Oruro for the national phase do not.

No date marks when Guadalajara was put together. What stands instead is the district that did it — Qaqachaca, still the club's identity a century's worth of seasons before anyone thought to write the founding down.
