JKT Tanzania

The fixtures that matter most on this calendar are the ones against Tanzania Prisons and Polisi Tanzania — the prison service and the police. All three sides belong to state institutions, and the meetings get billed as army derbies, soldiers against the enforcement arm. The table goes out of the window in those games.

The army connection is not decoration. The club belongs to Jeshi la Kujenga Taifa, the national service, and it has moved when the service moved it. It began in 1994 at Mgulani camp as JKT Kabambe, was transferred to the Ruvu camp in the Coast region and renamed JKT Ruvu Stars there, then in 1999 followed the service to its headquarters at Mlalakuwa in Dar es Salaam. The last change was administrative rather than geographic: on 12 December 2017 it became JKT Tanzania FC, because Tanzanian football rules would not let one owner field two clubs in the top flight.

The one trophy in the cabinet was won under the Ruvu Stars name. In 2002 the club took the Nyerere Cup, beating KMKM of Zanzibar 1-0 in the final. There is no league title to sit beside it, and the seasons since have gone both ways — relegation to the First Division, then promotion back up alongside African Lyon.

Raphael Bocco arrived in 2024, a forward who by then had built up a substantial international record with Tanzania. Edson Kataga wears the captain's armband this season.

Home is the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in the Mbweni district of Dar es Salaam, known locally as simply Isamuhyo. The club is sixth in Ligi Kuu Bara this season, in a ground built for 15,000.
