Maccabi Kiryat Gat

The club itself has not always been the same legal entity. Yehuda Ivanir registered it in 1961 and took the chair himself, but the line from that founding to today's Maccabi Kiryat Gat runs through two mergers and one collapse: the club dissolved in 2020 after a proposed union with Ironi Kesiyafa fell through and the finances gave out. Former players Moshé Savag and Ilan Kanfo rebuilt it from Liga Gimel within the year.

Before any of that, the men's side had its one season among Israel's elite. Runners-up in Liga Leumit in 2000/01 sent them up to Ligat Ha'Al, and under Gili Landau they lasted just the one campaign — but not without beating Maccabi Haifa, 4–0 on 2 March 2002. Relegation followed at the season's end, then a forced drop to Liga Alef in 2004 when the money ran out again.

None of that turbulence touched the women's team. M.S. Kiryat Gat has taken the Ligat Nashim title in seven of the last nine seasons and paired league and cup for a clean treble in both 2020/21 and 2021/22.
