Marios Nicolaou earned eight caps for Cyprus before his career took him through AC Omonia and Nea Salamis. MEAP Nisou did not grow from a single village side but from a merger: Erithros Asteras of Pera Chorio joined with Proodos of neighbouring Nisou in 1980, and the new club took its acronym from the combined names of both.
The ground, the Koinotiko Stadio Pera Choriou, holds 1,500. Twice the club has topped the Fourth Division, in 2000 and again in 2013. Promotion to the Third Division followed in 2003-04, and MEAP Nisou reached the Second Division for the first time that season, then again in 2017-18. The high point came in between: sixth place in the Second Division in 2005-06, the same campaign in which the club reached the round of 16 in the Cypriot Cup.
Goalkeepers have passed through in both directions: Maroš Ferenc arrived from Slovakia by way of Tatran Prešov and AS Trenčín, while Georgios Dimizas came up through Olympiacos's youth ranks before playing at Pera Chorio. The club's fixtures against sides from villages such as Deryneia carry the ordinary weight of Cypriot lower-division football rather than any named rivalry.
