«La Selección»
The most recent measure of where the programme stands came at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the squad finished 11th, and the year before that a fifth-place run at the FIVB Volleyball Women's Challenger Cup. At the larger World Championship, qualification nine times over the decades has produced a 10th-place finish in 1974 as the high point.
The team's one Olympic appearance came in 1968, when Mexico City hosted the Games and the hosts finished seventh. Regional competition has been kinder. At the Pan American Games, gold arrived in 1955, the first time women's volleyball featured on the programme at all, and Mexico won it on home ground. Bronze followed at three further editions through the 1970s. The NORCECA Championship brought two continental titles, in 1969 and 1971.
Known simply as La Selección , the team plays in green, white and red, and its silver medal at the 2021 Pan-American Cup stands as the clearest recent sign.
