«Team USA»
The Majestic Duffey Arena sits inside the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
USA Volleyball has run the women's programme since 1928. The team took silver in 1984, then bronze in Barcelona in 1992, then silver again in Beijing in 2008, where Lang Ping's side beat the Chinese team she once played for in the semi-final only to fall short of gold. The breakthrough, when it came, was not Olympic: in 2014 the United States won the FIVB World Championship final against China, the first world title in the programme's history.
The Olympic gold followed in Tokyo in 2021, a 3-0 final win over Brazil that closed a rivalry running back through London 2012, where Brazil had won the final the other way. The two sides met again in the semi-final in Paris in 2024, and this time the Americans came through, though the gold itself went to Italy in the final.
