Sagaing United

Phoe Chit put the club together in 2015 under the name Mahar United. A fourth-place finish in the debut campaign gave way to a runner-up spot in 2017, which brought promotion to the top-flight Myanmar National League. Only then, ahead of the 2018 season, did the founder rename the side Sagaing United, tying it to the Sagaing Region rather than to itself.

That first season in the top division ended 10th, but it also brought the league's Fair Play Award. Since then Sagaing United has settled into the table's middle reaches — seventh in 2019, seventh again in 2020, eighth in 2022, seventh in 2023 — with the 2021 season wiped out by the civil unrest that disrupted football across Myanmar. The 2024–25 campaign brought a fifth-place finish, their best in years.

Zaw Linn Tun, a former national team defender, was brought in by Phoe Chit back in 2015 and later took charge as head coach. On the pitch, Toe Sat Naing has captained the side for years and earned Myanmar caps as a defender, while Chit Myo Hteik became, at 38 in 2019, the oldest scorer in the league's history.

Home games are played at Monywa Stadium, in yellow and blue, with no fixed derby to speak of — the closest thing is the regional rivalry with Chinland FC, sharpened once by matches against Chin United before that club folded in 2020.
