Sevilla FC Women

Two Copa de Andalucía finals settled the argument with Real Betis in successive summers: a 3-1 win in 2022, then a tighter 1-0 the following year against Sporting de Huelva.

Sevilla's women's side did not begin as a first-team project. Between 2004 and 2008 the club backed an independent side, CD Híspalis, which once went all the way to the Superliga Femenina final, in 2006, before losing it. When that arrangement ended, Sevilla FC Femenino was constituted in its own right in 2008, starting again in the regional tiers.

What followed was a decade of yo-yo football: the regional title in 2008/09, promotion the following year on the back of league expansion, relegation in 2011, an immediate return via the Segunda División, then relegation again in 2015. The club won the second division a second time in 2017 and has stayed up since, with two seventh-place finishes, in 2022-23 and 2023-24, marking its highest points in Liga F. The league title and the Copa de la Reina have both gone unwon, though semi-final runs in the Cup in 2018-19 and 2019-20 showed the side could trouble the division's established names.

Olga Carmona came through the club's own academy before leaving to win the World Cup with Spain in 2023, the kind of departure that shapes how a smaller academy is judged against the country's dominant sides. For now Sevilla sit among Liga F's mid-table clubs, still chasing the top-flight silverware that has eluded them since 2008, with the Betis derby the fixture that matters most regardless of where either side sits in the table.
