Shabab Al Ordon

The King Abdullah II Stadium sits in the Qwiesmeh district of Amman, and it is where Shabab Al-Ordon have made their home since the club grew out of Al-Qadisiyah in 2002. The ground has stayed modest even as the club built a run in the Pro League that few in Jordan can match: since 2004, the Lions of Ghamdan have never dropped out of the top flight, their worst season a 10th-place finish in 2014-15.

The high point came in 2007, when Shabab Al-Ordon beat Al-Faisaly over two legs to win the AFC Cup, the first Jordanian club to take the title. Odai Al-Saify scored the winner and finished the tournament as joint top scorer; Mustafa Shehdeh had levelled the tie in the second leg. Both went on to pass 100 caps for Jordan. That continental run sits alongside two Pro League titles, in 2005-06 and 2012-13, and two domestic cups either side of the AFC Cup final.

Al-Faisaly, their opponents in that 2007 final, remain the closest thing the club has to a rival, though the fixture carries none of the branding attached to Amman's other derbies. What Shabab Al-Ordon are better known for locally is the academy: Musa Al-Taamari came through it on his way to Montpellier and a Asian Cup final with the national team in 2023, and Ahmad Ayman was handed a first-team debut at fifteen.

Carlos Echeverry took charge for the 2025-26 season, with the club sitting 7th in the Pro League. A new club crest was unveiled in July 2026. The AFC Cup win is now nearly two decades old, and a second continental run has not followed.
