Trento

Trento sits in the Alps in Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol. The football club took those colours and the eagle from the city's coat of arms, and has carried both through a hundred years that were anything but continuous. It came out of a merger in 1921 between the gymnastics society Unione Ginnastica Trento and the football side Sport Pedestre, and it has been wound up and rebuilt more than once since — bankruptcies and refoundations in 2004 and again in 2014, each time keeping the founding year in the name.

Before that came two promotion playoffs from the old Serie C2 — one settled on penalties against Padova on neutral ground in Verona in 1980, after a 2-2 draw that went to extra time.

The Briamasco opened a year after the club existed and holds 4,200. Bolzano is an hour up the valley.

Two decades later Roberto De Zerbi arrived at the other end of a career — ten league appearances and three goals in 2013, and then he stopped playing.
