Sporthalle Wolfsgrube seats just over 2,000, barely more than half of them in proper seating, and on the big European nights it fills up close to capacity. VfB Suhl Lotto Thüringen has played there through every version of itself: founded in Suhl in 1991 as VfB 91 Suhl, later rebranded as VolleyStars Thüringen between 2013 and 2016 before returning to its current name in 2017.

For most of that history, third place in the Bundesliga was as far as the club got, in 2007, 2011 and again in 2025. Suhl also reached the semi-finals of the CEV Challenge Cup twice, losing to Baku in 2011-12 and to Chieri in 2022-23.

The 2025/26 season changed that. Suhl beat Allianz MTV Stuttgart 3:2 in the DVV Cup final at the SAP Arena in Mannheim, in front of 12,508 spectators, then went on to win the German Championship, beating Dresdner SC 3:0 in the final.

None of it changes where the team trains and plays week to week: back in Wolfsgrube, the hall in Suhl where VfB 91 started out in 1991.
