The Ballsporthalle in Vilsbiburg seats 1,342 of its 2,000 capacity. It is where Rote Raben built a run in the top flight that lasted from 1991/92 through to 2023/24, with one short break in 2001.

The team traces back to October 1971, when it started as the volleyball section of TSV Vilsbiburg. It broke away as VSV Vilsbiburg in 1987, then took the name Rote Raben Vilsbiburg in 1998. Katja Wühler, capped for the German national team, was part of the group that delivered both championships.

The financial strain that eventually undid the top-flight run built up over years, and the club withdrew from the 1. Bundesliga voluntarily after the 2023/24 season rather than let debt force the issue. Two seasons followed in the 2. Bundesliga Pro, the second of them ending in the title under coach Guillermo Gallardo, and with it a return to the top division for 2026–27.
