Wimborne Town

Wimborne Town have worn black and white stripes since 1878, the origin of the nickname that has stuck to the club ever since: the Magpies. For generations they played at The Cuthbury, on the edge of Wimborne Minster, until ground-grading rules tied to promotion forced a move in 2020 to a new stadium, now known as the Wyatt Homes Stadium. The old site went for housing.

Nothing in the club's history comes close to what happened at Wembley. Wimborne beat Guiseley 5–3 in the FA Vase final, the first time any Dorset club had reached a Wembley final, and to this day no other side has scored five goals in a Vase final. The same season brought the Wessex League Premier Division title and the Dorset Senior Cup alongside it, a treble built around a side that included Trevor Ames, who arrived at Wimborne after a Football League career with Aston Villa, Hereford United and Crystal Palace.

Poole Town and Dorchester Town supply the fixtures that matter most locally, known as the Stour Co Derby and the Magpie Derby. Toby Holmes now leads the line as the club's regular scorer, following his father Danny, who both played for and managed Wimborne. The Southern League Division One South title in 2023–24 took the club back to Step 3 of the non-league pyramid after relegation two seasons earlier.
