Sportovní hala Sibeliova
Prague, Czechia
Formerly: Sokolovna, Spartakiáda storage
The building at Sibeliova has lived through several lives before becoming a sports hall. It started as an agricultural barn in the eighteenth century, then served as a Sokol hall, and later stored deck chairs.
The main hall stretches across 1,152 square metres, and while the floor is artificial for the three smaller courts, the basketball surface inside is parquet.
The hall is modest in scale. **365** seats line the walls, all of them fixed. There is nothing grand about the seating arrangement, but the club behind it has been running since 1885. TJ Tatran Střešovice now fields a men's floorball side and a women's team called the Black Angels, along with sections for handball, futsal, volleyball, badminton, and tennis.
Outside, the club has built a badminton hall with five courts, a gymnasium, and a fitness centre. Two outdoor clay tennis courts sit next to a second-generation mini-football field.
The building still carries traces of its past.
