The project strips the interior down to the main structure, replacing the roof and ventilation before the new sports floor is laid.
Inside, the hall hosts matches for VK UP Olomouc and SKU Olomouc, but its history reaches further back than the current tenants. On 21 November 1989 , the rafters above the court carried a different kind of weight. Thousands of students and faculty gathered in the space to vote for a strike, turning a sports arena into the focal point of the Velvet Revolution in northern Moravia.
The capacity sits at 3,000 spectators, a figure that allows the hall to host international qualifiers for the European Volleyball Confederation as well as cultural events like the 2023 concerto by Bruce Dickinson.
