Formerly: Leningrad Komsomol Stadium
It opened in June 1969 as the Leningrad Komsomol Stadium. Only after 1992 did it take the name Zvezda .
The natural turf that hosted those early decades is long gone. In 2005 it gave way to an artificial pitch with underfloor heating, and the surface itself has been relaid three times since — in 2009, 2013 and again in 2023. A first rebuild of the stadium structure came earlier, in 1985.
