Alpendorada saw off Macau 3-0 in the Round of 128 of the Portuguese Cup on Saturday. The home side made light work of the visitors with goals in the fourth, fifth and sixty-fourth minutes. And here's the thing, they didn't need much time to put the tie to bed.

The opening goal came almost immediately, followed seconds later by a second strike. Macau had barely settled before they were two down, and by then the match was effectively over. The visitors were left flat-footed from the first whistle.

The third goal arrived in the sixty-fourth minute, a period when the home side could have eased off. Instead they kept up the pressure and sealed the result. The away end never stopped, but there was nothing to applaud.

Alpendorada dominated the numbers too. They held 56 per cent possession while registering six shots on target against Macau's zero. The visitors managed only one shot off target and two corners from eight for the hosts.

It was a clean sheet for Alpendorada, who have lost none of their last five meetings with opposition from overseas. Macau's recent form has been poor, including a 6-0 defeat earlier this year, and this result did nothing to change that pattern. The home side advance to the next round with a goal difference that will be enough.
