Deshaun Watson has pushed back on criticism of his performance, saying the media has set an unrealistic bar for what he should produce each week.
The Cleveland Browns quarterback made the comments after his side lost 10-34 to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1.
"It feels like this is all coming from the media. They expect me to throw for 400 yards and five touchdowns every week. Apparently, until that happens, nothing changes. My job is to run the offence well so we can win and move forward," Watson said.
He found his receivers regularly. Cleveland's offence picked up several penalties before plays even started, and Watson lost the ball on a sack, though the Browns recovered it.
Since arriving in 2022, he hasn’t cracked 300 passing yards in a match.
Cleveland travel to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.
