About the player
Caio Marcelo Pinheiro da Silva grew up in the youth ranks of Botafogo and Cruzeiro before joining the Nova Iguaçu academy, and it was there that he made his senior debut in 2018. He signed for Orlando Pirates after a successful trial. The centre-back left by mutual consent, citing homesickness.
He rebuilt his career in Portugal, moving through Casa Pia, R.D. Águeda and C.D. Trofense on a series of free transfers as a left-footed centre-back. He spent two seasons at Daegu FC before returning to Brazil.
He has represented Brazil at under-20 level, though a senior call-up has not followed.
