About the player
Dodô was still on loan when he made his name, helping Fortaleza win the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B in 2018 and go up to Série A, then following that with the Campeonato Cearense and the Copa do Nordeste the following year. The midfielder had come through the Atlético Mineiro academy, part of the group that won the 2014 Copa do Brasil, before a string of loans to Figueirense, Chapecoense and Botafogo-SP took him away from Minas Gerais.
Promotion became something of a habit. In 2023 he was part of the Atlético Goianiense side that returned to Série A, and in 2025 he joined Remo, where he won the Campeonato Paraense and the Supercopa Grão-Pará before helping the club up to Série B.
He also had a run with Brazil's under-23 side, making four appearances and scoring once, and was part of the squad that took bronze at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.
