Kilian Basba Geeke Nikiéma

Kilian Nikiéma's story is a story of two federations. Born in Voorburg, he came up through Dutch youth football, playing for the Netherlands at Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 level before switching allegiance to Burkina Faso, the country of his other passport. He made his senior debut for Burkina Faso in a friendly against Libya, a 1–0 win, and did so at the age of sixteen — one of the youngest players ever to debut for the national side.

His path through ADO Den Haag has been entirely homegrown. He joined the academy from Voorschoten '97, signed his first professional contract there, and made his senior debut against FC Dordrecht. He has never gone out on loan, staying at the club through every stage of his development, even as his place with the reserve side, Jong ADO Den Haag, never translated into competitive first-team minutes for that particular squad.

Internationally, he has become a regular fixture in goal for Burkina Faso, collecting appearances across the 2021, 2023 and 2025 editions of the Africa Cup of Nations. The 2021 tournament brought the closest thing to a landmark: Burkina Faso reached the semi-finals.

It was the 2025–26 season at club level, though, that defined him. ADO Den Haag won the Eerste Divisie title and secured promotion to the Eredivisie, finishing top of the table, and Nikiéma was central to it — fifteen clean sheets in 32 league matches, conceding under a goal a game on average. He has not picked up individual goalkeeping awards for the campaign.
