«The Bucs»
The Buccaneers left Tampa Stadium after the 1997 season, having played every home game there since 1976. Their present ground, Raymond James Stadium, opened in 1998. It holds 69,218 and can be expanded to about 75,000 for special events. The palette of Buccaneer Red, Pewter, Bay Orange and Black was adopted in 1997, the year before the move, and refined in 2020.
The Buccaneers were awarded on April 24, 1974, as an expansion side alongside the Seattle Seahawks. Hugh Culverhouse, the founding owner, ran it until 1994. In 1976 the Buccaneers played their first NFL season in the AFC West and lost all 14 games, the first team of the Super Bowl era to go through a full season winless. The run reached 26 consecutive defeats early in 1977, an NFL record for the longest losing streak.
The first title came in the 2002 season under coach Jon Gruden, in Super Bowl XXXVII, played in February 2003. The second followed in February 2021, when Tom Brady was the quarterback in Super Bowl LV, the game that ended the 2020 season. The Buccaneers have not lost a Super Bowl they have reached. Only the Baltimore Ravens can say the same of more than one appearance.
Within Florida, the rivalry is with the Miami Dolphins, a fixture known as the "Battle of Florida".
