«The Bolts»
Jim Harbaugh arrived as head coach in 2024. The Inglewood stadium is shared with the Rams, and the two sides now play out the so-called Battle of Los Angeles on the same turf. The sharper rivalry sits with the Raiders, a feud that still carries the memory of the 1978 "Holy Roller" and has never really cooled since.
In 2020 the club dropped navy for powder blue as its primary colour. That earlier football ran through Don Coryell. The only league title arrived well before Coryell, in 1963, when the Chargers beat the Boston Patriots 51–10 for the AFL championship. The closest they have come since was the 1994 season, when an AFC Championship win sent them to Super Bowl XXIX, lost to the San Francisco 49ers.
Barron Hilton founded the franchise on 14 August 1959 and put it on the field in Los Angeles the following year.
