Comercial's more consistent business has been in the Segunda Divisão, which it has won twice, in 2004 and again in 2022, eighteen years apart, with a further final lost in 2016 in between. The gap says as much about the club's level as either result does.

The furthest Comercial has travelled competitively was the 2012 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, where the team, under Joacir Moura, finished bottom of its group on two points, a reminder of the distance between state and national football in Brazil.

The club's one moment of national attention had nothing to do with the scoreline: in the 2011 Copa do Brasil, against Palmeiras, its masseur Daniel Araújo drew cameras for turning somersaults on the touchline while treating players.
