Génesis climbed into Honduran top flight only once, and it took the whole of its short life to get there. The club won the Clausura 2023 in the Liga de Ascenso and, with it, the Campeón de Ascenso for the 2022–23 season — the result that lifted it into the Liga Nacional for the first time.

The club played out of Comayagua, at the Estadio Carlos Miranda, a 10,000-seat ground, and carried the nickname Carpinteros — Carpenters, a reference to the woodworking trade the region is known for. In October 2023 the side turned out in pink for a month, part of a breast cancer awareness campaign rather than any change to its colours.

Génesis did not survive long past its one promotion. On 28 May 2025 the club announced it would cease to exist, folded into Policía Nacional FC in a merger funded by contributions from more than 20,000 police officers through the Club Social and Hospital Policial funds, with no state money involved. The combined side kept the Génesis name — Génesis PN — but left Comayagua behind, moving to La Paz Suriaya and adopting the Estadio Roberto Suazo Córdova as its new home.
