«The Devils»
Two Søborg outfits, Gladsaxe Basketballklub and Efterslægten Basketball Club, folded their playing squads together as Gladsaxe Efterslægten. Between 1959 and 1969 the merged side and its predecessor clubs took the national title seven times. Bengt Petersen belonged to that generation, part of the side that won the league in 1964.
The alliance did not hold. In 1974 the leading figures on the Efterslægten side broke away to build the basketball department at Glostrup IC. What followed for Gladsaxe was a slide rather than a collapse: the club drifted out of the top flight and stayed out, its last season in the Basketligaen dating back to 1997.
Gladsaxe topped the 1. Division in 2024/25, a finish strong enough to force the league's first-ever relegation play-off, and came through it to book a return to the Basketligaen for 2026/27. The club still plays out of Gladsaxe Sportscenter.
