Haugesund FK

Twice Haugesund have reached the final of the Norwegian Cup. In 2007 Lillestrøm beat them 2–0; twelve years later, against Viking, the margin narrowed to a single goal and the result stayed the same.

SK Haugar and Djerv 1919 merged on 28 October 1993, and the new team spent the rest of the decade climbing — promoted to the top flight in 1996, then again in 1999, then a third time in 2009, which was the promotion that held. What followed was 16 straight seasons in the Eliteserien, ending in 2025 with relegation.

The best of those years was 2013, when Haugesund finished third. It was enough to make European football something the club expected rather than dreamed about: three separate runs at Europa League qualifying followed, in 2014–15, 2017–18 and 2019–20, the last of them arriving in the same season as the second cup final.

They play in blue and yellow, and the crest carries three seagulls — which is where Maakene, The Seagulls, comes from. Haugesund Sparebank Arena, known for most of the club's life simply as Haugesund Stadion, holds 8,754. That is a small ground by top-division standards, and for a town on the western coast it is the right size: full, it holds a noticeable fraction of the people who live there.
