The Accra Sports Stadium holds close to 40,000 people, and it is where the senior side plays rather than the youth teams that feed it — the academy trains and plays most of its own matches at the Pobiman Training Ground instead. That gap between the two grounds says something about how Hearts of Oak is built: a first team with a national stage, and beneath it an age-grade structure, known by the old name Auroras, working through regional competition such as the GARFA Division Two rather than any senior league.

The senior club traces back to 1911, and across the decades that followed built the record the academy is meant to feed: 21 Ghana Premier League titles, a Confederation of African Football Champions League win in 2000, and a Confederation Cup the following four years. None of those belong to the academy sides directly — their own honours board is thin, a runners-up finish in Zone 5 of the Middle League in the 2022/23 season being about as far as it goes on paper.

What the youth setup has produced instead is players. That is the academy's real ledger — not silverware but departures, each one a sign the training pitches at Pobiman did their job.
