In the spring of 2015, Iskra finally climbed out of the amateur divisions, winning the Montenegrin Second League and reaching the Montenegrin top flight. The promotion mattered on its own terms.
Iskra's roots go back further than that single season. The club was formed in Danilovgrad in 1919 as Sloga, and only took its current name, meaning "spark," in 1945.
Independence brought a harder league to crack. Iskra has never won the Montenegrin First League, and its best finish there remains third place, in the 2019/20 season.
Maroon and yellow have stayed the colours through all the name changes and division swaps.
