Kariba

Promotion in 2013 sent the club up to the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League for 2014, and it has stayed there ever since, never relegated back down. The top-flight title and the Cup of Zimbabwe have both stayed out of reach.

The club takes its name from the power company that owns it, and its two nicknames point at the same stretch of water from different angles: "Kauya" for the Zambezi River the town sits beside, "Katuru" for the hydroelectric turbines inside the dam. When Nyamhunga Stadium failed to meet PSL ground requirements in 2014, the club had to play its home fixtures at Gwanzura Stadium in Harare before Nyamhunga, with its 5,000 capacity, became home in blue and white.

ZPC Kariba has worked more often as a supplier than a destination. Ian Nekati left for Chicken Inn and went on to captain the national team; Raphael Manuvire moved on to earn 14 caps for Zimbabwe after a spell in Kariba colours, and Dynamos has been the recurring landing spot for defenders such as Lincoln Zvasiya, Jimmy Tigere and Blessing Moyo. Against Chegutu Pirates, the nearest rival within Mashonaland West, the fixture carries its own weight as a provincial PSL derby. In 2024 the club made a different kind of history when Chisveto took over as chairperson, the first woman to hold that post at a Premier Soccer League club.

None of it moves far from where the club began in 1978, in a town built around a dam and named for the power it generates.
