Kozuv Gevgelija

Kožuf Gevgelija has been in Macedonia's top flight exactly once, and it lasted a single season. In 1994/95, playing under the sponsored name Kožuf Vinojug, the club finished bottom of the sixteen-team table with seven points, a tally battered further by penalty deductions, and went straight back down. The promotion that had earned them the place, won as champions of the Second League's eastern zone in 1993/94, remains the highest league finish in the club's history.

The name comes from the mountain that rises over Gevgelija, the southern Macedonian town the club has represented since it was founded on 1 October 1922. It has never relocated and has never had a local rival to speak of — Kožuf is the only football club Gevgelija has produced, so there has been no derby to build a history around, only the club's own.

Since that one season among the elite, Kožuf has settled into a rhythm of drops and returns through the Second League, the Third League and the regional Gevgelija league, relegated in 2000/01 and again in 2014/15, promoted back in 2001/02, 2007/08 and 2016/17. Since 2020/21 the club has held a steady mid-table place in the Second League, finishing ninth in both 2024/25 and 2025/26.

Ljupčo Gugov remains the name attached to the club's better years, its all-time leading scorer across two spells in the 1970s and early 1980s. Vardar, Pelister, Pobeda, Partizan and Hajduk Split all made approaches; he stayed at Kožuf. Risto Tanev went the other way round — an academy product who left to play, then came back as sporting director and later general director.
