Libertas

The pitch at Borgo Maggiore is an artificial one, opened in 1932 and rebuilt in 2004, and it holds only 200 people around the touchline. AC Libertas settled there as the country's first football club, formed in September 1928.

The league itself came late and only once: Libertas took the Campionato Sammarinese in 1995–96. They have won the Coppa Titano eleven times, from 1937 through to 2006 and 2014. The 2014 run finished with a 2–0 win over Faetano under coach Pierangelo Manzaroli, and that same year they added the Super Coppa Sammarinese.

The Simoncini twins carried the club's name into Europe in different ways. Aldo, the goalkeeper, saved penalties for the national team against the Czech Republic and Switzerland; Davide, his brother, played in defence and came through Empoli's academy. San Marino's own European run for the club was shorter-lived — a UEFA Cup qualifying exit to Drogheda United in 2007–08, followed by further qualifying appearances into the 2014–15 Europa League.
