London City Lionesses

Promotion arrived in the 2024–25 season, when London City Lionesses won the FA Women's Championship and reached the Women's Super League for the first time in the club's history — three years after finishing runners-up in the same division in 2021–22.

The club exists because Millwall Lionesses did not, in its current form. When the professional and amateur sides of that setup separated in August 2019, the new entity kept the Championship licence and the identity, while the old name went back to the lower tiers with an amateur side built from scratch. London City Lionesses has been owned since December 2023 by Michele Kang, who bought it from founder Diane Culligan and folds it into a portfolio that also includes the Washington Spirit and Olympique Lyonnais Féminin under her Kynisca Sports International group.

Home games are played at Hayes Lane, officially the Copperjax Community Stadium, which holds just over 5,000 — a small enough ground that fixtures against Charlton Athletic Women and Crystal Palace Women, both sold as London derbies, carry an intensity out of proportion to the capacity.

No major cup has followed the club yet: the FA Cup run has stopped at the fifth round, the League Cup at the quarter-finals. The name most associated with the rise into the Women's Super League is Kosovare Asllani.
