Magallanes CF

A group calling itself Magallanes began turning out matches years before Chile had settled on a professional championship. The strip changed more than once in those early years — white and red at first, then black with two blue stripes, then pink and blue — before the club fixed on the white shirt and sky-blue trim in 1908 that has marked it ever since, worn with black shorts and socks. Magallanes, known to its own supporters as La Academia, had already spent more than three decades on Santiago's amateur pitches, winning four Primera División titles and the 1937 Campeonato de Apertura. Arturo Torres captained the side through that run and later coached it, having already played for Chile at the 1930 World Cup. Arturo Carmona, a contemporary, represented the national team at the 1935 South American Championship.

Decades passed before Magallanes reached those heights again. After finishing runner-up in the Copa Chile in 2011, the club won the trophy in 2022 — the same year it also took the Primera B title and returned to the top flight — then lost another Copa Chile final the following year. The Supercopa de Chile followed in 2023. Twice before that, in 1995 and 2010, Magallanes had topped the third-tier Tercera División A. Franz Arancibia, who came through the club's own academy, went on to play for Chile at senior level.

Home matches are played at the Estadio Municipal Luis Navarro Avilés in San Bernardo, where the ground holds 3,500.
