Manica Diamonds

Sakubva Stadium holds 20,000 in Mutare, close enough in temperament to the ground across town that meetings there carry their own name, the Mutare Derby, against Tenax FC. Manica Diamonds moved in as tenants with backing rather than history: the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamonds Company set the club up in late 2017 as a way of putting something back into the community, and gave it a nickname, Gem Boys.

The rise was fast. Under Luke Masomere, the club went through the Second Division's Eastern Zone in 2018 without losing, 26 wins and four draws, and the promotion carried them into the Premier Soccer League the following year. Partson Jaure, once captain of the national team, arrived that season as the kind of signing.

Money proved harder to sustain than form. Wages fell behind, and by April 2026 the diamond company had sold the franchise on to African Mineral Ventures, a side stepping up from the Eastern Region Soccer League, clearing the debts it left behind as part of the deal.
