Odorheiu Secuiesc

Odorheiu Secuiesc sit in Liga III, the level where most of its history has unfolded, and the club won Seria V in 2021-22, followed by a run to the Fourth Round of the Cupa României that same season.

The football tradition in the city goes back to 1922, but the club playing today is not, strictly, the one that started it. That original side, known through various eras as Lemnarul, Progresul, Harghita and Budvar Odorheiu Secuiesc as sponsors and political winds changed its name, folded in 2006 under bankruptcy. AFC Odorheiu Secuiesc was set up that December to pick the thread back up, and Romanian football recognises it as the old club's successor rather than a fresh start. A second collapse followed in 2011-12, when financial trouble got the club thrown out of Liga III altogether.

Promotion has come only once in the club's history, to Divizia B for the 1973-74 season under the Textila name, and it ended in relegation after a 17th-place finish. Everything else has played out a tier or two lower, including four county championships in Liga IV and six runner-up finishes in Liga III across the 1970s and 1980s.

Supporters know the team by two names, Odorheienii and Secuii, and black and orange still mark them out at the Municipal Stadium, a 5,000-seat ground that has stayed the club's home through every rebrand.
